I love cooking!! I can simply say that from the bottom of my heart! I’ve increased my knowledge of cooking over the past years. It’s amazing because I can be very creative by thinking up different recipes. I cannot say I’m an expert in cooking but I’m good and proud of myself. Cooking makes me feel very…peaceful!!

Here are some reasons that I love to cook:

  • When cooking I can let out the imaginative side of me
  • While cooking I love filling the house with welcoming food aroma
  • I enjoy learning about nutrition and combining variety foods in preparation and enjoy eating them
  • I like to try new food and I like the idea of everyone asking me what is the recipes after enjoying my food
  • I love food!
  • And food brings people together

I always let my family taste what I have cooked because I love hearing their feedback. Recently I cooked a delicious supper of: wide spaghetti, with my special tomato sauce, and a half cut filleted fish served on top. I got great reviews!! I did get goals of improvement though which I will take into consideration for the next time I cook. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of the meal I recently made but I do have a picture of…

Since I’m not a pro as yet, I don’t like to cook solo all the time. I love cooking with the members of my family!! We create the best meals all together. My mom is a pro at making traditional Tanzanian meals, and my dad has made up one of his own signature food which tastes delicious!!! It is called chapeggs. Pronounced (cha-pa-eggs). It’s sort of like a mix between chapatti and eggs. I have cooked with my sisters mostly, and the most common food we cook (bake) together are cupcakes, cookies, and cakes for small occasions or as snacks.

I love watching cooking shows like: Master Chef, Master Chef Junior, Million Dollar Critic, Pressure Cooker, and many many more!!! They give me an inspiration to cook, along with my family of course! I don’t take any lessons for cooking because my mom is the best cooking teacher I could ever have!! However, I still cannot make big meals but that is still work in progress. Hence, I am yet to learn how to make pilau, one of my favorite dishes. I do know how to make chapatti though!!! My mom taught me how!!

I had an opportunity to go to the Community Room in the Superstore to cook with my classmates! We followed step by step instructions on how to make Quinoa Salad and the end result was tasty and nutritious!!

Did you know that scientists think that cooking was invented 1.8 million years ago!! Now (in 2014) we have developed many different types of cooking!! Here are a few examples; baking, roasting, broiling and grilling, frying, boiling, simmering, and steaming. My favorite type of cooking is baking, and I do it the most.

To tie it all up, cooking is essential but can also be enjoyable. We would all be sick if there was no such thing as cooking!! Imagine raw meat! If you haven’t cooked before, just roll up your sleeves and give it a shot!! Don’t worry there’s SO many options of what to cook, and how to cook it!! You now know what I like about cooking so it’s your turn!! What do you like to cook? Get Cooking!!
