I recently wrote about the Jian Ghomeshi (JG) scandals and how I thought that children nowadays are more vulnerable than they appear to be. I was shocked to hear of such a well known and loved Canadian broadcaster being accused of physical and sexual harassment from many people, most of these people were adults at the time of the supposed crimes were committed. I am disappointed to hear about Bill Cosby and his sexual harassment claims. Just disappointed, nothing more, nothing less.
We all know Bill Cosby. He is an African-American comedian who has starred in many successful sitcoms and comedies including The Cosby Show. He has always been able to make people laugh in every one of his performances and has gained the love and respect of many worldwide. Nowadays, that love is fading.
As mentioned before, sexual assault allegations against Cosby have been in the news now for a while, first small and ignored but now increasing nearly everyday. So far, 15, more than JG and all women, have accused Cosby of rape. It is definitely something that you do not want to hear about; something you pray is not true. But by the way, Cosby has been avoiding questions and not giving answers, there is close to no doubt in my mind that Bill Cosby has really done these cruel things.
The fact that he, like my family and I, are persons of African descent saddens me even more. What was he thinking when he raped these 15 women? Did he know the risks he was taking, how this could taint his wonderful image? And because he is indeed black, did he know how much more trouble he would get in if he was ever found out? My mother always says that this world is unfair. God might forgive you but the world never shall. Especially for Africans trying to pave their lives in North America, they must do 110% better than expected, prove everyone else wrong, and be the most civil person you know you can be. I thought Bill Cosby was that, but it appears I am wrong.
Bill Cosby has now ruined a lot of who he used to be, a lot of Dr. Huxtable from The Cosby Show, a lot of the funny, lovable man he once was. It’s nearly all but still there. In a situation like this with anyone else, I would probably defend him, saying that it is all a hoax and a sham. But in Cosby’s situation, he has made it obviously clear that he is guilty of something, there is no denying that. To think that a man like him could possibly be the “scary and dangerous” person his victims are calling him.
I still hope that this is all fake, just another one of this world’s many lies. But lies from over a dozen individuals who probably do not even know each other until now as the victims of Bill Cosby? I seriously doubt it. And a lot of other people do too, including Hollywood. A number of different groups have already canceled shows, interviews, and re-runs of previous Bill Cosby appearances, definitely because they think he is guilty and do not want to affect their image anymore than Bill Cosby wants to speak up.
Who do we trust now? Nobody! I repeat nobody! I am even contemplating to not watch anything ever produced by him. It is mentally unsafe for Watotos.
