On November 7th 2014, people flocked the local cinema’s. Why? Well it was because the movie Big Hero Six made its much anticipated debut on the big screen!! And I was lucky enough to watch it with my two best friends in the theater.

The movie Big Hero Six is an animated movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios rated PG for the whole family. The team behind this great movie also made the movies “Wreck-It-Ralph” and the all-time favourite “Frozen “among many more. It has already earned over 10.9 million dollars in two of the approx. five weeks it will be in theaters! Amazing right?!

I liked the movie a lot and the plot is fit for all ages. The plot is also really easy to understand and it was not all over the place like some movies tend to be. I think that the animation was fantastic!!! Although I wish they had added more music and songs.

This movie takes place in the futuristic Asian (Tokyo)/American (San Francisco) hybrid city of San Fransokyo. Big Hero 6 is a hilarious action-packed movie about Hiro Hamada who is a boy wonder and Baymax who is a personal health care robot. The movie really starts when a mysterious fire changes Hiro’s life and he turns to Baymax and his brother’s friends. Go Go is the risk-taker, she loves to be in the midst of action. Honey Lemon is the chemistry whiz, she is perky and kind because she is there for her friends. Wasabi is the engineer, and Fred the comic book lover. Hiro gets caught up in anger and danger as he tries to find the person responsible for the fire and he turns each of his friends into high tech superheroes, each using their own talents as powers which are really cool. I think it was really cool how the creators had the name of the movie the same as the name of the gang of superhero friends. Hiro, Baymax, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go became Big Hero 6 and… well I ’m not going to spoil the movie so you’ll have to watch it to know what happens!

Main characters:

  • Hiro Hamada is a 14-year old genius (voice of Ryan Potter). He is a robotics prodigy who graduated high school at the age of 13. He looks up to his brother, Tadashi and loves to bot-fight in the alleyways of San Fransokyo. He is mostly reserved and keeps to himself with the exception of his brother and his aunt Cass. He thinks for himself and has a strong mind. I think he can be a good inventor.
  • Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit) of course!! A personal health care robot, invented by Tadashi. He cares for Hiro and has a huggable quality probably due to the fact that he is a big inflatable robot!

Supporting characters:

  • Tadashi: (Hiro’s older brother, voice of Daniel Henney), a very caring older brother who invented Baymax. He is brave and kind and a role model for Hiro.
  • Others includes: Tadashi’s friends: Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez), Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), Fred (voice of T.J Miller) and Go Go (voice of Jaime Cheung). They all worked together as a great team which I think was very fantastic!

Even though there were no on-screen actors, the voice actors are phenomenal especially the voice of Baymax, the robot. He is good at making a robotic voice. The only part I would change in this movie may be a tiny spoiler so skip to the next paragraph if you wish… The part I would change in this movie is the part where Tadashi dies. I am not sure if anyone has ever noticed this but in Disney movies someone always dies, whether it is a mom, dad or sibling. My favourite part is Tadashi’s video when he was making Baymax, it was funny but it also made me on the verge of tears because this was after Tadashi died when Baymax shows the video to Hiro. My favourite character would have to be Baymax because he is selfless (well as selfless as a robot can be!) and caring.

Like I said before, Big Hero 6 is an amazing movie for the whole family filled with action and comedy. It is sure to make you laugh, feel sympathy, happiness and it might even make you cry. I encourage EVERYBODY to watch it!
