Saint Bernadette lived from 1844 to 1879. Her family was poor and she was often sick. She was born in France, and when she was fourteen, she saw the Blessed Mother in a cave. Bernadette told her parents and her priest. They did not believe her. Mary kept visiting Bernadette. She talked to her. She asked Bernadette to pray for the sinners.
One day, the Blessed Mother told her to dig in the ground. Water came out. It healed many people. Then people began to believe Bernadette! We celebrate her feast day on April 16. We pray St. Bernadette to help us know and love the Blessed Mother and to do what is right no matter what others think.
I like St. Bernadette because she inspired me to be brave and to pray more.
