Some of us do it. You are just drinking your tea and it feels kind of weird. Then you look over and see it oh here is some sugar. ‘Don’t take it don’t take it’ you tell yourself. But you do it.
Ladies and gentlemen and watoto’s too do not feel bad. We are many of us who use either a lot of sugar or a small amount. Did you know that the average North American consumes 45 grams of sugar a day? This is equivalent to one full can of pop filled with sugar. If you do the math in five days a person is taking 225 grams of sugar! That is 5 soda cans filled with sugar! I like to put a lot of sugar in my tea, but now I stopped after my parents told me it’s not health. I decided to do some research and I learn some stuff. Also I learn taking a lot of sugar it ages the skin too.
Here is what the American Heart Association {AHA} recommended on how we should take sugar for one day. Men: 150 calories per day {37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons}. Women: 100 calories per day {25 grams or 6 teaspoons}. For me, sugar is very tasty and I like to use it often when I drink milk or tea. I try to use natural honey in my tea. I know some people who put honey in their tea or coffee.
If you think you have a sweet tooth, here are some of the food you may consider eating which contains sugar. Milk-5g, Pineapple -10g, Bananas-12g, Grapes-16g
There is just one thing that I think is very nice, I learned when I was in grade two. A bottle of water has 6 mm of sugar in it. Watoto if you want to experiment, ask your mom or dad to help you with this experiment. First you get a water bottle and pour it in a cooking pot. Once you’ve poured water in a pot wait for it to boil. In second grade we learnt this process that water will eventually evaporate away leaving the sugar behind. Once you’ve scraped the sugar off and measured it, you will get 6mm of sugar.
The food items I mentioned that contain sugar aren’t bad. That sugar is organic and rich in fiber. Fresh fruit is loaded with nutrients that are super good to our health.
Sugar is so sweet that it can make your heart skip a beat. Sugar is sweet and it is not always good for our heart. I think sugar is healthy to consume but only if you consume it in moderation. For those of you who likes sugar like me. Next time when we drink tea or coffee let’s try to remember to pour just what we need and try not to go overboard on the sugar.
