You may know how my mother is proud of her African culture. It is all over her, at home and at work. Actually, she also has a little Canadian culture in her. Like her favorite radio station, 98.1 CHFI. All her radios in the house (two in her bedroom, one in her bathroom, one in the kitchen, one in the family room, one in the playroom and another one in her exercise room) are at 98.1 CHFI. She listens to it everywhere, even in the car. She loves listening to Erin and Mike … and so the rest of us end up listening to them. The jokes, the wise men, the laughter … you name it.

As you may all already know, a month and some days ago, Erin Davis lost her daughter. I am not sure what happened to her, but I do know it was very tragic. Erin Davis and Mike Copper were in Jamaica when they heard the news. They flew back to Canada. Erin has been off taking care of funeral arrangements for her daughter. It was sad.

On Thursdays June 11, 2015, as I was having my breakfast, I heard Erin’s voice again. She was back. It had been a while and it was not the same without her. She was laughing and making all those silly jokes with Mike, and I was happy too. It has been hard for her. I feel so bad for Erin. Losing someone that you love and care for is very hard. I have lost some people that meant a lot to me and I know how it feels.

Welcome back Erin. We missed you. I am so happy that you are back on the radio. I thought I could end my article with a poem.

When she was born, you gave your whole life to her

You changed her diapers and feed her at night

You taught her how to say her name

You took her to school everyday

You watched her grow up everyday

You made sure when she came to stay

Everything was just the same

You think your job is done

But you really have just begun

The memories are not too far

There only a step away.

Angea-Acaye.
