In memory of Vanessa Yasintha Wambura (August 2003 – August 2023).

Crime is all over the world today. For reasons unknown God’s children are killing one other. God created earth for us to take care of each other, love and trust one another. Frankly, that is disappearing as we’re not doing a very good job at it. So today my fellow Watotoz, as you might have heard on the news or any form of media here is the few mention on everything bad going on in our Godly given world. (Those who don’t believe in God will bear with me):

  • In Syria there is bombings
  • In Iraq Christians are being killed or hurt for their beliefs in the Lord
  • In Israel vs. Gaza there is a massive war
  • Russia and Ukraine are fighting among one another, Ukraine has planned a cease-fire
  • People even believe that there will soon be World War III, Ukraine versus Russia?
  • A Somalian militant was killed
  • Human Rights Workers are missing in Qatar

People all over the globe are killing, bullying, or committing suicide. We have been brought into this world as children of God to love one another. Yet we seem to have lost our faith in whatever God we believe in. I guess there is no simple answers for what is causing all these miseries and suffering. Sometimes I wonder – is it because people do not care anymore, is it because our God does not care anymore, is it because people have lost faith, is it because people do not believe in any God? Or what?

I am being brought up in the family that believe in God as a Christian child. Being Christians, as a family we go to church on Sundays. This is important part of who we’re and I also think it helps us to keep us connected together in trust and love we share. We have a wonderful church and great priests and most importantly, great people that all gather together to worship our God as we share our faith. The faith which is based on the teachings that we should love each other and treat everyone as we would like to be treated. That means if you don’t want someone do something bad or say anything mean to you don’t do to them. I think those who don’t believe in God probably believe around the same that we should treat people with respect. Some of my friends at school do not go to church and some say they don’t believe in God but we are all friends and I see them treating me and other kids equally.

I did some research and the sad truth is the number of those who are religious is declining. Some people are using their religion to harm others who have different faith, like the case of Iraq. People do not have time to go to worship anymore or some just go occasionally or on special days. For example during Christmas, our church usually offer extra masses and still people cannot find seats or parking. According to Gallup site, “94% of Americans were Christians in 1948 now the percentage has dropped to 78%”. I have not searched about other religion.

I know that many people reading this are probably, Jewish, Islam, Hindu, Communist, Tao, Shinto, Jaid, and Buddhist and so many more. We all have different religions that most of us respect deeply. The point here is, why don’t we respect others, children, women, male, adults, teenagers, seniors. Josiah mentioned in his article that righteous people do good things and avoid all kind of evils. Did you know that about every year 5.8 billion people die and nearly one third of the cause of these death are because of violence? (WHO website).

There are so many religions everywhere. Some believe in Buddhism, Allah, Judah and so many more beliefs are known in many cultures. I believe in God and that we are all brothers and sisters in faith. With our differences apart, I wish we could all believe in righteous, love, trust and peace.

Because when faith is lost the risk of bad stuff to happen is huge.

Let’s all join hands to pray for peace and harmony. Amen!!
