Retouching! Retouching! What does it mean? I’ve seen several people trying their very best to look like that woman or man on a magazine. They cry themselves thinking that their bodies are not perfect and this lowers their self-esteem!
However, no one is perfect. I know that love is louder than the pressure to be perfect (Demi Lovato) and that everyone is made differently and unique, but we are all beautiful. My bible says, “I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.
What retouchers do is that they change the appearance of people on magazines such as wrinkles, blemishes, skin tone, hair colour, body, and sometimes they switch bodies with other bodies. Retouchers don’t know how their “CREATIVE WORK” negatively affects the lives of many people which may sometimes lead to suicide. In my opinion, I do not trust magazines since the whole thing is a big lie of how celebrities look.
I remember reading an article of retouchers at the school. I don’t remember the celebrity’s name but she found out that someone completely changed her image by switching bodies with someone else’s and she was furious. From this story I found out that maybe sometimes celebrities don’t even know the changes that happened to their photos.
In addition, this tells me that retouchers are not always reliable or trustworthy. The reason why I am so focused on retouchers is that readers of the magazine sometimes have misconceptions that the images of the celebrities are fully real. I too have been fooled that a certain woman on a magazine was really her, but I watched a video of how retouchers changed her and I was shocked.
In conclusion, be strong and be yourself because we all have something great in us and we ought to let it shine.
